2018 Club Nationals Wrap up...
The three teams that represented Triton in Canberra over the Easter weekend all had a fabulous time, full of good polo, friendships and fun times. Our U14's boys went over there to participate and learn from the experience and the first couple of days were tough - coming up against the 3 teams seeded in the top 15 - who were all much bigger and stronger than our Triton stars! But to their credit the boys continued to play with determination and good sportsmanship and come away in 27th place after a couple of late wins in the week. Well done boys.
Our U18 girls had a very successful tournament with some close games and ended up 6th in the competition - our highest place in U18 girls ever. We were also the highest WA ranked team at the end of the tournament, which was bitter sweet after loosing the State Grand Final a few weeks ago. Well done Vaughan, Christie and girls on a great tournament.
Our four U18 boys who represented the club in the UWA/ Triton Composite side also had some great games and placed 11th at the end of the tournament. It was a very close tournament and the boys had some close games that if they have of won, would have seen them in the top half! The Younger UWA/ City Beach U18 team took out the National Champs for 2018, so a huge congratulations to them.
Our very own Jamie Oberman stayed on in Canberra after the National Club Champs for the 2000 born squad training camp and hopefully cemented her place in the Australian Team for the FINA Youth World Championships to be held in Belgrade in late August this year.
Tim Putt (one of our U14's coaches) also had a successful tournament at the 2018 World League Inter-Continental Cup in Auckland, New Zealand that ended yesterday with both the Aussie Sharks and Stingers taking out the silver medal. Both Aussie teams were beaten by the USA in the grand final yesterday.
